KAJANG: A 25-year-old was shot on his right shoulder by his sister's ex-boyfriend who is an auxiliary police officer when his family refused the suspect's request to see her at the family's house inTaman Megah, here today.
The 28-year-old fired six shots, four of them were blanks while the other hit a Perodua Myvi's wind shield belonging to the injured man, technician T. Solomon, before fleeing.
According to Solomon's father T. Tholilaletholan, 59, his daughter T. Josephine, 26, had ended her relationship with the man known as Samuel last week due to his bad behaviour.
"As her father, I do not approve the relationship but it seems that the man cannot accept that.
"He is part of the police force, but his behaviour does not reflect that of a disciplined individual," Tholilaletholan said at his house this evening.
He was not at home when the incident occurred at 9.30am, but had came home as soon as he received a call from his wife A. Elizabeth, 56.
It was learnt that the suspect had come to the house after 7am to see Josephine, but her family told him she had gone to work in Bangi.
An hour and a half later, the suspect came to the house again and saw his ex-girlfriend in the house.
He tried to barge into the house but was stopped by family members. Solomon told him to leave.
Josephine also told the man that their relationship was over.
The suspect did not back off, instead, he climbed over the gate and fired three shots at the window upstairs.
After the suspect fired another shot, Solomon tried to stop him but was hit on his right shoulder.
The suspect then shot at the windshield of the Myvi parked in front of the house before fleeing.
Tholilaletholan told the New Straits Times that he was informed by the police that the suspect was caught in Kajang at 1pm.
At press time, his son's condition was stable after being warded at the Kajang hospital.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said that Selangor police chief Datuk Shukri Dahalan would issue a statement.
